1. Purpose
PhiSaver supports competitive, ethical and locally beneficial procurement. Where practical and commercially reasonable, PhiSaver seeks to support Australian industry, small to medium enterprises (SMEs), and Indigenous businesses in its supply chain.
2. Commitments
PhiSaver will:
- give fair consideration to capable Australian suppliers and service providers
- seek opportunities to purchase from SMEs where they offer suitable value, quality and service
- seek opportunities to engage Indigenous businesses where practical and relevant
- avoid unnecessarily complex procurement processes for small suppliers
- use clear scopes and reasonable response requirements when seeking quotes from smaller businesses
- pay suppliers in accordance with agreed terms
- support genuine subcontracting and partnership opportunities for qualified local businesses.
3. Practical actions
Where proportionate to the size and value of the procurement, PhiSaver may:
- obtain quotes from Australian SMEs
- consider Indigenous suppliers for suitable categories of work or services
- consider local capability, service responsiveness, whole-of-life value and supply resilience
- use Australian-based professional services, trades and installation support where appropriate
- keep records of key supplier selections where required by a customer or contract.
4. Australian industry and government procurement
If a customer contract requires it, PhiSaver will:
- provide information reasonably required to demonstrate support for Australian industry participation
- comply with applicable procurement-connected policies and contract clauses
- work constructively with customers on local industry, SME or Indigenous participation measures that are proportionate to the engagement.
5. Responsibility
Management is responsible for implementing this policy and for considering supplier diversity and local capability in procurement decisions.
